Call for ‘Naturally Healthy’ activities during May

Local Nature Partnerships across the South West are teaming together to deliver Naturally Healthy Month throughout the whole of May. In Gloucestershire, we are calling for organisations across the county to participate by hosting events and activities that engage people in nature and the outdoors. These could simply be events you already have lined up and are happy to promote via the campaign and share the #NaturallyHealthy hashtag across your platforms.

Activities could include a wildlife/health walks, outdoor yoga, practical conservation days, outdoor play for children and families, nature discovery days, wild picnics, a family bioblitz, herbal plant workshop, community gardening, buggy park walks, outdoor mindfulness workshops, wild campouts, species identification taster days, geocaching, a cycle ride in the forest of dean, farm visits, forest bathing, canoeing trips and more.

This month of events has been running successfully for a number of years across Devon, Somerset and Dorset Local Nature Partnerships. With the announcement of 2019 being the 'Year of Green Action', Gloucestershire LNP would like to support the campaign, growing its scope across the South West and driving awareness of the importance of access to nature for its positive effects on mental health, self-esteem and physical health. We will be promoting activities across our Twitter platform @glosnature, with the hashtag #NaturallyHealthy and #YearofGreenAction in the run up to and throughout May, as well as across our website, encouraging members of the public to share their activities and photos.

We would value any contribution from GLNP members and other organisations interested in this cause. If you would like more information or to have a chat about opportunities, please contact Jackie@gloucestershirenature.org.uk
